Back Lift
Today, common sagging is seen on the back as well as in all body parts, especially after weight loss after bariatric surgery. We can prevent these sagging on the back by doing sports. However, back stretching operations support your appearance in cases of sagging that develops despite sports.
What is Back Lift?
As in other regions, sagging may occur in our back region due to effects such as skin and muscle tissue, excessive weight gain and gravity.
The surgical technique is determined depending on the amount of sagging in the skin and the fat tissue. If there is sagging of the skin along with lubrication in the back area, liposuction is applied first. Stretching is also applied to remove the sagging of the skin after liposuction.
How Is Back Lift Surgery Performed?
Back lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, the patient; Excess fat is removed from the armpits, breast sides, the area above the shoulder blades, and in some cases, the bra line extending under the breast. The application is applied to reduce the patient’s back area. In some cases, since only fat removal is not sufficient for this, especially in patients with dramatic weight loss, skin stretching is performed by removing excess skin along the line extending from the bra line to the shoulder blades.
When the loose skin around the back due to various reasons cannot be recovered because the tissues are insufficient, the need for a back stretching operation occurs. During the procedure, liposuction is applied to the patient’s back and shoulder areas. During the horizontal or vertical incision procedure, the muscles can be tightened without damaging the nerves and tissues in the area.
After the operation is completed, adhesive tapes are placed on the surgical application area and the patient is dressed in a body corset. It is possible to place a drain to prevent blood and fluid accumulation under the skin. The patient is kept under control in the early period in terms of the risk of infection and healthy wound healing. In this period, the patient’s regular use of the prescribed drugs is one of the issues that should be considered.
Who Should Have Back Lift Surgery
Back lift aesthetic operations may be needed in people who have deep cracks and sagging on their skin, people with loosening in their back skin and muscles, and people who have excess skin and subcutaneous tissue overflowing from underwear, swimwear or clothes.
What is the Recovery Process of Back Lift Surgery?
Lower back stretching is typically combined with a tummy tuck, so you may need to take at least two weeks off work. Surgical drains can be applied for 5-6 days to reduce the possibility of fluid accumulation. For upper back stretching, most patients return to work with restrictions after 7 to 10 days, but total recovery time is four to six weeks for most patients.
In the first few days after surgery, bruising, swelling, numbness and moderate pain at the surgical site are common. You will be prescribed pain relievers to help you relax. Surgical dressings are used to help keep your incisions clean and prevent opening. You will be given detailed care instructions.
As your incisions heal, your upper body movement will be limited and you will need to avoid strenuous work. Most patients can return to their daily life, including exercise, after six weeks. Final results can be seen in four to six months, when all swelling has subsided.
